Jun 3, 2010 - Board of Directors Meeting

The Board of Directors met at lunch time last Thursday and was confronted with the loss of two of its members - Lee Benner, treasurer, by resignation, and Jama Carper, director, by change of residence. To replace Lee Benner the board elected William Johnson to serve as treasurer in addition to his secretary job, a common occurrence in Kiwanis clubs. The board granted Jama and Herb Stackhouse leaves of absence and deferred action on replacing Jama as director.

Visitors at the meeting were Louise and Ross Maynard and Lt Governor Bob Simmons. Louise urged attendance at a prayer meeting on behalf of Denni Moss at the Episcopal Church at 1:00 p.m.

The board authorized donation of $600 in support of the Chamber of Commerce's fireworks display in July as budgeted but will attempt to get donations in memory of Chris Hughes to defray some of our costs. The board also approved awarding the third $1000 scholarship as budgeted.

In considering unfinished business, the board approved formation of a club satellite at Lake Oconee as a means of increasing our membership. The board also approved a membership drive involving the sending of pairs of members to recruit new members.
